Students in grades 1-5, at all four elementary schools in the Martinez Unified School District, actively engage in the California requirement of 200 minutes of Physical Education every 10 days.  In order to assure compliance with this legal requirement, each site has established “Prep C” protocols for those grade levels that may not reach the 200 minute requirements due to minimum days, teacher prep, and / or assemblies.  These established practices of running laps, dance & movement, and cardio-conditioning outside of the PE class are documented and verified by the site administration on a monthly basis.

Contra Costa County Library serving free, healthy lunches to kids and teens

The Contra Costa County Library is serving free lunches to kids at nine library locations in the county this summer in an effort to prevent a summer nutrition gap. Many low-income children face nutrient deficiencies when school closes for the summer break.
“Poor nutrition can make it harder for children to learn and succeed,” said County Librarian Melinda Cervantes. “We want to help families get nutritious meals even when school is out of session.”

Lunch at the Library is part of a statewide collaboration between the California Library Association (CLA) and the California Summer Meal Coalition to unite libraries and summer meal providers and keep kids healthy and engaged when school is out.

In addition to lunch, the libraries will offer a variety of free programs including board games, arts and crafts, musical performances, Legos, movies, and more. Lunches are free for kids and teens 18 and under. For more information about the Lunch at the Library program visit,ccclib.org/summer

    Traffic Policy

(Click this link for more details & a map)

*There is no supervision before 8:00 a.m. - Please do not drop your student off until 8:00 a.m.

(only students having breakfast may arrive at 7:45 a.m.)

*Drop off and Pick up– please “go with the flow”

*There will be ABSOLUTELY no pick up or drop off in the upper parking lot during school hours. This area will be coned off during pick up and drop off for all families, including Woodbridge. Parking lot will be open for Woodbridge before 8am, after 3 pm, and for PM Kindergarteners in the middle of the day. The area directly beyond the upper parking lot will now be a red zone to prevent cars from backing into children by the crosswalk and for better traffic flow.

*The lower parking lot (by Kindergarten) is now designated for parent parking only. THIS IS NOT A DROP OFF OR PICK UP ZONE.

*To pick up or drop off your child, you can either, park and walk to pick up/drop off OR pull up to the front of the school in the pick-up/drop-off zone.  Please don’t use your cell phone in our pick up/drop off lane.  Please never park in the parking lot or across the street and have your children cross to meet you on their own, this can be very dangerous for our students!

*The upper lot is designated primarily for staff members and Woodbridge.
