Kathy Frazer, Principal

Dear John Muir Elementary Families,

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and share my excitement about my appointment as the new principal at John Muir Elementary School. JME has a reputation of excellence, and I feel fortunate to be joining a school culture focused on student learning, a commitment to high expectations, innovation, and collaboration. We are an inclusive school where differences are appreciated and celebrated. It is my intent to continue to carry out these important traditions and practices. I would like to continue to build on the same reputation here and invite you to help us determine what is best for your child by attending monthly morning coffees, parent conferences, and academic events.

Prior to my appointment, I was a teacher and vice principal here in Martinez, a principal in Fairfield and most recently a director with the Tri-Valley Regional Occupational Program. Through my experiences I have enjoyed working with a diverse group of parents, teachers, students, and community members. Together we helped to create a stimulating and challenging learning environment that allows all students to reach their maximum potential. I believe that all students can and will learn when challenged to reach higher levels of achievement.

I am committed to the following goals:

  • Help each child find his/her special talents and interests.
  • Continue to provide meaningful learning experiences that meet the needs of all students.
  • Foster collaborative relationships between students, staff, parents, and community members.
  • Integrate technology throughout the curriculum to enhance student learning.
  • Answer your concerns and communicate information in a timely manner.

In closing, I feel most fortunate to work with you and the outstanding educators of Martinez Unified School District. I am eager to get to know each of you this year. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at any time.
